Establishment and General Information:

The Student Grievance and Redressal Cell, North Gauhati College has been constituted in accordance with the UGC guidelines for student grievance redressal mechanism at the college. It comprises of the Principal Dr. Bhaskar Jyoti Hazarika as the Advisor, Mr. Pradip Kumar Kalita as the Chairperson, Dr. Sanghamitra Sarma as the Convenor and Dr. Jewelina Choudhury, Mrs. Sikha R Kakati, Mr. Denis Rabha, Dr. Anup Hazarika, Mr. Tapesh Doley and Mrs. Nilakshi Borah and one student representative, nominated by the principal. The committee attends to the grievances of the college students and offers redressal of the same in a time bound and effective manner. It provides a platform for the students to lodge a grievance in both online and offline modes. More than 10 Suggestion Boxes are kept in the college building at different locations which help students to give suggestions/lodge complains.

One of the objectives of the Cell is meant to help in improving experience of the students at the college and is committed to providing student support in a transparent and student centric mode. Student grievances are attended to promptly, to ensure an empowering and fulfilling learning environment for all students. There are also different committees like the Internal Complaints Committee and Anti-Ragging Committee which works towards the resolution of specific issues once complaints are received by the College. Depending on the nature of the complaint, the College directs the representation received to the relevant committee.

Scope and objectives of the Grievance Cell:

i. Academic Issues: The cases addressed by this committee include grievances related to:
• Internal Assessment
• Change of course
• Miscellaneous Complaints related to any issue faced by students in their departments or related to infrastructure.

ii. Examination-related issues: Any discrepancies which may arise in internal examinations are forwarded to the concerned authority for resolution.

iii. Infrastructure-related issues: The cases addressed include grievances related to infrastructure related inconvenience of students which are heard and appropriate steps taken for their solution.

iv. Behavioural complaints: Depending on the nature of the complaints, the Committee directs the complaint to the relevant committee.

v. Other complaints: Miscellaneous complaints of students are dealt with aptly, as and when required.

Regarding grievance submission, both online and offline methods are present. A google form, the link mentioned below, can be filled by students for addressing their grievances.

Grievance boxes (Suggestion Boxes) in prominent areas are installed as an offline mechanism to address grievances.
